JAMSHEDPUR – Agitated over the suicide of a 17-year-old girl Gauri Mukhi, a resident of Bhalubasa Harijan Basti under the jurisdiction of Sitaramdera Police Station, the family members and local residents put up a road blockade on Saturday, soon after they were handed over the body after post mortem.

The agitating family members and local residents were demanding justice to the deceased by taking stern action against the accused who were responsible for the death of Gauri Mukhi.

After her postmortem on Saturday, the relatives were handed over her body and they blocked the road in protest.

The distraught family has demanded that the police arrest and imprison those who they allege molested the girl.

Among those accused by the family are a former driver of the Sitaramdera police station and others.

They claim that these individuals consistently harassed the girl, leading her to take her own life.

Allegations of Police Inaction and Retaliation

The family also alleges that their complaints were ignored by the Sitaramdera police station.

Moreover, they claim that the police, at the behest of the former driver, sent the girl’s mother and other family members to jail, implicating them in a case.

The family also stated that the accused, alleged liquor vendors, intoxicated people and sent them to assault the family members a few days ago.

The police arrived at the scene after learning about the road blockade with the dead body, and they have started to placate the family members.

Local Outrage and Demands for Justice

Despite filing a complaint in the police station on May 23 and escalating it to the higher officials, she alleges that the police took no action.

Consequently, she resorted to registering the case in court.

The mother claims that when she protested, P Mukhi’s entire family confronted her.

The police reportedly arrested her after allegedly finding drugs in a scooty outside their house.
