Nuagaon villagers protest after road crash kills breadwinner, allege police inaction
GAMHARIA – Local villagers gheraoed Gamharia police station and protested against the death of a 20-year-old youth near Ganjia Barrage last night. They were demanding arrest of the guilty persons and adequate compensation to the victim’s family.
The villagers said that the deceased was a young man of very calm nature and was concerned only with duty to home and from home to duty.
He did not consume any kind of intoxicant.
Family members said that in the said case, Ricky Mahanty (deceased) died after being hit by a tractor carrying illegal sand.
Even after the police got information about this, the accused have not been arrested yet.
Everyone is absconding after the incident.
A person has been detained yesterday who is an eyewitness to the entire incident. He says that the police is busy saving the accused.
The villagers created a ruckus demanding compensation to the relatives of the deceased and arrest of the culprits.
After the death of a 20-year-old youth resident of Nuwagarh, who died in a road accident near Ganjia Barrage last night, the villagers along with the family members of the deceased surrounded the Gamharia police station and staged a strong demonstration on Friday.
The villagers have made it clear that if compensation is not given to the relatives of the deceased and the accused are not arrested, then traffic will be disrupted by blocking Gajia Barrage.
The villagers told that the deceased was the only heir of his parents and the entire household was run by his earnings.
