Chowka Police Arrest Opium Smuggler in Chandil, Seize Contraband Worth INR 1 Lakh
Chandil’s Chowka police capture a long-elusive opium smuggler, seizing 450 grams of wet opium, cash, a mobile phone, and a motorcycle in the process.
Chandil: Chowka police of Seraikela-Kharsawan district achieved a major breakthrough. A smuggler was arrested with wet opium worth one lakh.
He had been evading the police for a long time and is now behind bars. The police arrested 28-year-old Mangal Munda, a resident of Mutuda village.
They seized about 450 grams of wet opium near Mutuda village. Munda has been sent to judicial custody.
Chandil SDPO Sanjay Kumar Singh provided the information. He said that the case number 30/2023 has been registered in Chowka police station.
Police are investigating under the NDPS Act. The market value of the seized opium is estimated to be around one lakh.
Cash, a mobile phone, and a motorcycle were also recovered from the arrested smuggler. Complaints of opium smuggling had been received in the area for a long time.
A team was formed, which successfully raided and arrested Mangal Munda. SDPO Chandil, Sanjay Kumar Singh, called it a significant achievement.
