Jharkhand Braces for Heat Wave Amidst Rain and Lightning Forecast
Yellow Alert Issued for Nine Districts, Temperatures Set to Soar
The Meteorological Department has sounded a heat wave warning for nine districts in Jharkhand, following a spell of rain and lightning that swept across 18 districts in the state.
RANCHI – The weather center in Ranchi, operated by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), has issued a yellow alert to warn residents about the upcoming heat wave conditions.
The department’s four-day forecast predicts a variety of weather conditions for Jharkhand. One day will bring rain, lightning, and strong winds, while the following three days will be marked by scorching heat wave conditions.
Thunderstorms and lightning
Thunderstorms and lightning are expected to occur in various regions of Jharkhand on June 3, including the north eastern, central, and southern parts, as well as Jamshedpur.
During this period, the wind speeds are anticipated to reach 30 to 40 kilometers per hour, which will contribute to the overall intensity of the weather conditions.
“It’s important for residents to stay indoors during thunderstorms and steer clear of open areas to stay safe,” warned a meteorological official.
Heat wave conditions are expected to affect nine districts
Unfortunately, the relief from the scorching heat won’t last long. The IMD has predicted that certain areas in Garhwa, Palamu, and Chatra districts will experience heat wave conditions on June 4.
There is expected to be a further deterioration in the situation, as a yellow alert has been issued for nine districts on June 5 and 6.
The districts preparing for the heat wave are Garhwa, Palamu, Chatra, Latehar, Lohardaga, Ranchi, Ramgarh, Hazaribagh, and Koderma.
Ranchi’s Weather Forecast
On June 3, Ranchi, the capital city of Jharkhand, is likely to have some clouds and a chance of thunderstorm clouds.
Starting June 4, the weather is expected to improve, leading to warmer temperatures.
Get ready for some scorching days in Ranchi! From June 4 to June 6, the mercury is expected to rise to a sweltering 40 to 41 degrees Celsius.
Weather Updates and Unprecedented Temperature Records
Over the past 24 hours, several areas in Jharkhand have experienced gentle to moderate rainfall, accompanied by thunderstorms.
Several places in Garhwa and Palamu districts experienced heat wave conditions, with Daltonganj in Palamu reaching a scorching temperature of 45.4 degrees Celsius.
Meanwhile, Bokaro experienced the lowest minimum temperature of 22.5 degrees Celsius.
Reports of strong winds have been received from several districts, including Simdega, Bokaro, Saraikela-Kharsawan, Giridih, Jamtara, Hazaribagh, Baharagora, Barhi, Dhanbad, Chatra, Palamu, and Jagannathpur.
Assistance for Areas Affected by Cyclones and Monsoons
The IMD has also observed the development of a cyclone area in eastern Uttar Pradesh and nearby areas.
In the meantime, the southern regions of the country can look forward to some much-needed relief rain as the southern monsoon arrives.
As Jharkhand gets ready to confront the difficulties brought about by the approaching heat wave, it is important for residents to take the required precautions, keep themselves hydrated, and refrain from spending too much time under the blazing sun during the hottest hours of the day.
The authorities are closely monitoring the situation and are prepared to take action to lessen the impact of the heat wave on the population.
