Jamshedpur: Gangs of thieves have been targeting Mandirs in different parts of the city for the last several months. Even last year a number of Mandirs in the city were targeted and in several cases donation boxes kept in the temples were broken and the cash stolen.

In another such incident, unknown thieves targeted Monday night Sri Sri Manokamna Shiv Hanuman temple near Tatanagar station overbridge under Bagbera police station and stole valuables worth Rs. 1.25 lakh.

On reaching the temple on Wednesday morning, the pujari learnt about the theft.

The thieves stole the priest’s utensils and also targeted the donation box kept in the mandir. They also stole the silver crown of Bhagwan Hanuman and took away even a pot.

The temple committee believes that more than five thousand rupees must be in the donation box.

It is estimated that the thieves decamped with at least Rs. 1.25 lakh worth of valuables.

When the pujari Kapil Dev Jha reached the temple Monday morning he found the things in disarray.

Soon after this he informed the people of the temple committee and the police about the incident.

On receiving the information, Bagbera police also reached the site and started investigation into the incident.

Locals also reached the temple and demanded that the police arrest the thieves soon.
