Kerala Cong MLA forced to apologise for donating to Ram Mandir

New Delhi: A Congress MLA in Kerala Eldhose Kunnappilly has been forced to apologise for having donated to Ram Mandir and has said that he was cheated by the RSS and he was not aware that the donation he was making was for Ram Mandir.

According to reports, Congress E Kunnapilly was under tremendous pressure from his own party as well as SDPI activists since after his donation of Rs. 1000/- to Ram Mandir construction in Ayodhya came to light.

SDPI activists also held a protest and burnt the effigy of the Congress MLA.

The MLA now says that some people had contacted him for donation for some temples without telling him that they were from RSS and that the donation was for Ram Mandir.

In a Facebook video, the MLA said he donated Rs. 1000 to the donation seekers, but those who took donation went out and started claiming that he had donated for Ram Mandir.

Soon after the news of his donation to Ram Mandir came out in the public, SDPI activists took umbrage at it and started protesting. They even held a march to his residence.

Under pressure from his own party as well as Muslim activists, E Kunnappilly has now denied that he had donated for Ram Mandir.

He called himself a ‘secular’ person and advised the RSS to behave ‘ethically’ and apologised to the Muslim community if their sentiments were hurt by his act.

SDPI is a political outfit of PFI.
