SERAIKELA — Former Jharkhand Chief Minister and Seraikela MLA Champai Soren visited the family of a lightning strike victim at Gondamara village in Rajnagar block on Sunday, offering condolences and pledging all possible assistance.

A lightning bolt had recently claimed the life of one person in the Seraikela district village. Two other residents of Gondamara were also injured in the same incident. The tragedy had left the village in deep mourning.

Champai Soren met the grieving family and offered personal condolences. He said he was standing with the affected family in this hour of grief and would make every effort to ensure they received all possible help.

However, the visit was not merely a show of solidarity. On the occasion, the MLA issued a specific direction to Block Development Officer Malay Kumar. He instructed the BDO to ensure that all government compensation and assistance due to the deceased’s family was disbursed at the earliest.

BDO Malay Kumar, who was present at the spot, assured that the necessary action would be initiated. He said all entitled benefits and relief amounts under government norms and procedures would be made available to the victim’s family without delay.

Lightning strikes have been a recurring threat in Jharkhand during the monsoon season, claiming lives and injuring residents across rural areas. The Rajnagar block of Seraikela-Kharsawan district has also seen other incidents of sudden tragedy in recent months.

Several local leaders and villagers were present with the former CM during the visit. Among those accompanying Soren were Wakil Soren, Guru Prasad Mahato, Dilip Rawat, Vishnu Murmu, and Karmu Pan.
