Key Points:
- Female visitor smuggles phone into Ghagidih Central Jail, films four criminals inside
- Video shows Vicky Kundi, Aman Shekhar, Balram Singh and Vineet Singh in jail premises
- Case registered at Parsudih police station; gangwar angle also under investigation
JAMSHEDPUR — Security arrangements at Ghagidih Central Jail have come under serious scrutiny after a video shot inside the prison by a female visitor went viral on social media, triggering a wave of alarm among jail and police authorities.
The viral footage shows four notorious criminals from the Golmuri area — Vicky Kundi, Aman Shekhar, Balram Singh alias Chhotu, and Vineet Singh — inside the jail premises. Songs promoting gangster culture are audible in the background of the video, raising further questions about the prison’s internal surveillance.
Despite the jail operating a three-tier security system, the female visitor managed to carry a smartphone inside and record the footage. The video was subsequently shared from a social media account in the name of Nishant Singh.
Meanwhile, police investigation revealed that Nishant Singh is the brother of Balram Singh, who is currently lodged in the jail. Following this discovery, the jail administration launched a detailed inquiry into the matter.
On the other hand, all four criminals visible in the video have prior criminal records. They have been accused of demanding Rs 10 lakh in extortion from a businessman named Rajkumar Sah in the Golmuri area, and of firing at two separate locations on the same night. Besides, Vicky Kundi and Aman Shekhar together face nearly a dozen cases, including the court gate firing incident and an attack on Akshay Singh in Sidhgora.
In addition, CCTV footage from cameras installed inside the jail was reviewed after the video surfaced, and it confirmed that a female visitor had recorded the clip. Police are also examining whether the incident is linked to an ongoing gang rivalry or a turf war. It has emerged that a long-standing dispute exists between Raza Alam — who is in jail in connection with the Kanhaiya Yadav murder case — and the Vicky Kundi faction.
Following a complaint by the jail administration, a case has been registered at Parsudih police station against Raza Alam’s mother, Nishant Singh, and others. Police are investigating the matter from multiple angles, including the Jamshedpur crime network connections of those involved.
