BJM has advocated the need for inclusion of Bhojpuri, Magahi and Maithili in local languages list for state level exams.
Jamshedpur: BJM has raised the demand for including Bhojpuri, Magahi and Maithili in the list of local languages for state level examinations in Jharkhand.
A delegation of BJM, Jamshedpur Mahanagar led by District President Subodh Srivastava submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister of the state through the Deputy Commissioner of the district.
On Wednesday, the delegation, through a memorandum, demanded the inclusion of Magahi, Bhojpuri, Maithili and Angika languages in the list of local languages in the state level examination.
BJM District President Subodh Srivastava said that on August 5, it was made mandatory in the cabinet of Jharkhand to give 30 marks in the state level examination for the local languages.
A total of 12 local languages were included in this. In which Urdu, Santhali, Bangla, Mundari, Ho, Khadia, Kudak, Kurmali, Khorla, Nagpuri, Panchpargania, Oriya are included.
However, Magahi, Bhojpuri, Angika and Maithili languages were not included in this examination, he said.
He said that a large number of Magahi, Bhojpuri, Angika and Maithili language speaking people live in Jharkhand. Not adding these four languages in the examination has created a lot of disappointment in the society.
He said that these languages are spoken by about 35 percent of the population of Jharkhand.
He said that exclusion of these languages is an injustice to about 40 lakh people residing in Jharkhand.
He said that the government should also tell the people as to since when Urdu has become a local language of Jharkhand and not Hindi or Magahi.
He appealed to the government to amend the cabinet decision soon and include Magahi, Bhojpuri, Angika and Maithili languages in the state level examination.
BJM District General Secretary Kulwinder Singh Pannu, Minister Vikas Gupta, Treasurer Dharmendra Prasad, Spokesperson Akash Shah, District President of Minority Linguistic Cell Bhagwat Mukherjee, Birsanagar Divisional President M Chandrashekhar Rao, Office In-charge Prem Karan Pandey, Shankar Karmakar, Soni Singh, Jogi Pandey and others were a part of the delegation..
