362 Students Take Part in DBMUN 2026 Diplomacy Sessions at Bistupur School

JAMSHEDPUR – DAV Public School in Bistupur wrapped up its three-day Model United Nations conference, DBMUN 2026, bringing together 362 students to deliberate on pressing global and national issues. The event ran from August 6 to August 8 and gave young delegates a platform to sharpen diplomatic skills, critical thinking and public speaking.
The conference opened with an inaugural ceremony on August 6, setting the stage for a series of committee sessions held over the following days. Students took on the roles of country delegates across multiple committees, engaging in structured debates, negotiations and resolution drafting on contemporary global concerns.
Ms Mousumi Majumdar, teacher representative from DAV Public School, Hehal, thanked the principal for hosting the event. She said participating students gained not only academic learning but also lasting memories, along with a belief that they could contribute meaningfully to change.
At the closing session, one delegate from each committee shared reflections on their experiences and the lessons gathered over three days of debate and discovery.
Mrs Pragya Singh, principal and Assistant Regional Officer for DAV Public Schools, Jharkhand Zone E, expressed delight at the conference’s successful conclusion. She said that rising above the previous day’s performance requires sustained effort rather than a quick fix, praising the organising committee for their work over the three days. She also commended the teachers who mentored the students and reminded attendees that the 200-year legacy of the DAV institution rests on the shoulders of everyone associated with it. She closed by noting that one of the key lessons from the conference was learning to extend respect, in the way a developed nation extends it to a smaller one.
The third and final day saw delegates present closing arguments, negotiate with fellow participants and work toward adopting resolutions. Students demonstrated confidence and teamwork while defending their assigned countries’ positions through the concluding rounds.
Committees at the conference tackled a wide range of subjects. The All India Political Parties Meet addressed the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls, the proposed delimitation exercise, and India’s response to the U.S.-Iran conflict. The UN Security Council discussed the situation in the Middle East, foreign terrorist fighters and instability in the Horn of Africa and Central African region. Other committees, including UN Women, UNFCCC and a technology-focused body named UNODET, deliberated on gender-based online harassment, climate adaptation financing and AI safety standards respectively.
Pradyuman Parihar, Director General of DBMUN 2026, proposed the vote of thanks to close the event. Organisers said the conference left participants with lessons in diplomacy, collaboration and global citizenship, while sharpening their engagement with contemporary international challenges.
Model United Nations conferences have become a regular feature at several Bistupur schools in recent years, giving students structured exposure to debate and international affairs. Similar student-led initiatives have taken shape at other institutions across Jamshedpur, reflecting a growing emphasis on extracurricular platforms that build public-speaking and negotiation skills among school-age students.
