Medical book gives members, dependents discounts on tests and treatment

JAMSHEDPUR – The Press Club of Jamshedpur has launched a new health initiative for its members and their dependents. Under the scheme, participating doctors will provide free outpatient consultations to club members.
Members and their dependents will also receive fixed discounts on diagnostic tests and treatment. Thirteen doctors have so far agreed to join the initiative.
The medical book was formally released on Saturday at a ceremony held at Nirmal Guest House auditorium in Bistupur. Doctors and Press Club office-bearers jointly unveiled the book at the event.
Those present included Dr. R. Kumar, Dr. Rajeev Thakur, Dr. Ketan Verma and Dr. R.K. Singh. Press Club president Sanjeev Bhardwaj, former president Brajesh Singh, general secretary Vikas Srivastava and joint secretary Amit Tiwari also attended.
Press Club general secretary Vikas Srivastava said the medical book would serve as the means for members and dependents to access the facility. He said it would allow free OPD consultations with participating doctors, along with discounted rates on tests and treatment.
Srivastava added that 13 doctors had currently agreed to join the scheme. He said efforts would continue to expand the number of participating doctors and medical institutions in future.
Diagnostic tests and physiotherapy services have also been included in the scheme. True Care and First Step Physiotherapy in Sakchi, along with R.K. Physiotherapy in Mango, have agreed to offer discounted rates to club members and their dependents.
However, Dr. Rajeev Thakur called the initiative a good and necessary step. He suggested the facility be expanded further in the future.
Dr. R. Kumar said hospitals should also be brought into the scheme. He said this would ensure club members and their families could access broader healthcare facilities whenever needed.
Dr. Ketan Verma and Dr. R.K. Singh also praised the Press Club’s initiative and pledged full cooperation to strengthen it.
Meanwhile, Press Club president Sanjeev Bhardwaj said the Jamshedpur unit was the first press club to formally launch such a medical facility for its members and dependents. He said this was only the beginning and that more doctors, hospitals and medical institutions would be added over time.
He said journalists continuously fulfil their responsibilities by bringing forward the problems of various sections of society. He added that the club therefore had a duty to look after the welfare of its members and the needs of their families.
At the end of the programme, Bhardwaj formally began the book’s distribution by presenting the first copy to senior member Jainandan Sharma.
Former Press Club president Brajesh Singh, delivering the vote of thanks, praised the club’s initiative. He expressed gratitude to all doctors and medical institutions who had agreed to join the scheme.
Senior journalists Kulwinder Singh, Pramod Jha, Arvind Srivastava, Chandrashekhar, Manish Sinha, Akash, Sanu, Ajit and Tarkeshwar were among other Press Club members present at the event.
