CHANDIL – A student suffered a head injury after the headmaster of a government middle school allegedly struck him during class on Saturday, sparking outrage among local villagers. The incident occurred at the Utkramit Madhya Vidyalaya in the Kukdu block, which falls under the Chandil subdivision.
The blow left the boy bleeding profusely, prompting school staff to rush him to a nearby doctor. The physician administered stitches and dressed the wound, requiring three sutures to stop the bleeding. The child remained visibly frightened when he later recounted the episode.
According to the boy’s account, he had been completing classwork in his notebook. After making an error, he tore out the page to rewrite his answer on a fresh sheet. It was at this point, the child said, that headmaster Khelaram Bediya entered the classroom and noticed the torn page.
The teacher reportedly grew furious upon seeing the torn notebook page and struck the boy in anger, causing the injury. Word of the incident spread quickly through the village, drawing a large and agitated crowd to the school premises.
