Four Arrested in Chandil Vijay Tirkey Murder

SERAIKELA – Police have arrested four accused in the December 24 Vijay Tirkey murder case in Harudih village under Chandil police limits, following an SIT probe.
The murder occurred on December 24, 2025 in Harudih village of Chandil. However, the FIR was registered on December 25.
The case was lodged on the complaint of the deceased’s wife. Meanwhile, it was registered as Chandil P.S. Case No. 199/25.
Sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita 2023 were invoked. Moreover, Section 27 of the Arms Act was added.
Superintendent of Police Mukesh Kumar Lunayat ordered a Special Investigation Team. Meanwhile, police intensified technical and human intelligence tracking.
During the probe, four accused were arrested. However, one of them had earlier been sent to judicial custody.
The arrested include Shahid Khan alias Shehzada and Vivek Kumar Manna alias Vicky. Meanwhile, Rahul Rai and Manish Kumar Thakur were also held.
Police said interrogation of the accused is continuing. Moreover, raids are underway to arrest other absconding suspects.
The raid team was led by Chandil police station in-charge Dilshan Birua. Meanwhile, officers from Chauka and Nimdih police stations assisted.
Kapali OP in-charge Dhiranjan Kumar joined the operation. Moreover, ASI Ranjan Kumar Singh and Kamal Yadav participated.
SI Amit Kumar and ASI Vijayjeet Kapadi were part of the team. Meanwhile, armed personnel of Chandil police station supported the raids.
Officials said a detailed disclosure will follow soon. However, further arrests are likely in the coming days.
The development follows other crackdowns in the district. Meanwhile, cases such as the Seraikela couple murder and the RIT police arrests had also seen multiple detentions.
Recent operations like the loaded pistol arrest and the Kapali fugitives case reflect continued enforcement in the district.
