JAMSHEDPUR — A sudden shift in weather brought a dust storm followed by heavy rainfall to the city on Tuesday afternoon, providing much-needed relief to residents reeling under intense heat.

Dark clouds gathered over the sky in the post-noon hours before strong winds swept through Jamshedpur. The downpour that followed transformed the atmosphere entirely.

The rain came as a considerable relief to people who had been suffering through the scorching heat. In addition, a noticeable drop in temperature was recorded across the city. The weather turned pleasant and many residents stepped out of their homes to enjoy the cool breeze and the rainfall.

According to the meteorological department, similar weather conditions are likely to persist for the next few hours. Moreover, further spells of rain accompanied by strong winds are expected in the region.

The weather change brought visible cheer to the streets of the city. People who had largely stayed indoors due to the heat were seen venturing out. However, the strong winds also raised concerns about potential disruption in some areas.

April in Jamshedpur typically witnesses sharp rises in temperature, with the city being located in a region that heats up significantly before the onset of the pre-monsoon season. The temperature variation brought by such unseasonal rain is common during this transitional period. Meanwhile, residents expressed hope that the cooler weather would continue for at least a few more days.
