AITUC Warns Tata Power Workers to Join Feb 12 Strike

Torch March Planned as Talks Set Over Jojobera Contract Workers’ Issues

JAMSHEDPUR – AITUC warned Tata Power contract workers will join the February 12 strike if issues remain unresolved.

The All India Trade Union Congress staged a strong protest at Sakchi Gol Chakkar. The demonstration was organised by the Kolhan division committee. Meanwhile, leaders highlighted ongoing labour movements across Jamshedpur.

Kolhan divisional general secretary Ambuj Kumar Thakur detailed recent labour agitations. He focused on the contract workers’ movement at Tata Power Jojobera. Moreover, he said talks with the deputy labour commissioner are scheduled for February 7.

AITUC district vice-president R S Roy addressed the gathering. He said the district committee stands firmly with Tata Power workers. However, he warned action would intensify if demands remain unmet.

Roy said if issues are unresolved by February 11, workers will act. Therefore, Tata Power workers will fully join the nationwide strike on February 12. Meanwhile, unions are mobilising support across industrial zones.

The meeting also announced a torch march on February 7 evening. The march will begin from Govindpur Anna Chowk at 6 pm. It will conclude at the Tata Power gate.

Leaders also appealed for support for the February 12 strike. Meetings will be held at Tinplate Gate. Moreover, gatherings are planned at Tata Steel Sakchi Gate and Sakchi Gol Chakkar.

Several union members attended the meeting. They included Zafar Khan, Pawan Singh, and Hussain Ansari. Meanwhile, Yakub Khan, Manoj Kumar, Santosh Prasad, and A S Pramanik were also present.

Similar labour actions were earlier reported in Jamshedpur. Moreover, recent cases include vendor workers’ strike and factory wage protests. On the other hand, underground strikes like Surda Mines action also disrupted operations. Meanwhile, earlier resolutions followed sanitation workers’ talks. Labour unrest also affected healthcare during hospital strikes.
