Saurabh Tiwary, a prominent figure in Indian cricket, concludes his illustrious career, retiring from all formats of the game.
JAMSHEDPUR – Saurabh Tiwary, the Jharkhand cricketer, has declared his retirement from international and first-class cricket after an extensive career.
His announcement followed a Ranji Trophy match for Jharkhand, marking his final appearance against Rajasthan in the current season starting February 15.
Tiwary, who represented India in three ODIs in 2010, expressed his decision post Jharkhand’s recent match, highlighting the importance of making way for younger talents.
The cricketer reflected on his journey and the difficult decision to retire, emphasizing his commitment to cricket and future involvement in the sport.
Tiwary reminisced about his early cricket memories and stated he has no plans to enter politics, choosing to stay connected to cricket.
Starting his first-class career in Jamshedpur in 2006, Tiwary was part of the India Under-19 team and later joined Mumbai Indians in the IPL, making significant contributions.
He called for enhanced facilities and infrastructure in Jharkhand to support budding cricketers.
Tiwary played a vital role in Jharkhand’s Vijay Hazare Trophy win and made his mark in the IPL with teams like Mumbai Indians, Royal Challengers Bangalore, and others.
Throughout his career, Tiwary amassed over 15,000 runs across formats, including 28 centuries and 77 half-centuries, demonstrating his prowess on the field.
