Labor Day Strike: MGM Hospital Sanitation Workers Demand Regularization
MGM Hospital sanitation workers strike on Labor Day, demanding regularization of employment after 20 years under a contractual system.
Jamshedpur: As International Labor Day is celebrated across the country, sanitation workers at MGM Hospital have gone on strike, demanding regularization of their employment.
The workers are protesting against the government’s apathetic attitude towards their long-standing demand.
These sanitation workers have been employed under a contractual system for the past 20 years, yet they have not been made permanent by the government.
In response, they have staged a sit-in, vowing to continue their protest until they receive written assurance from the government that their demands will be met.
The striking workers said that they are committed to struggling for fair labor practices and the need for greater recognition and security for workers in MGM Hospital.
