Chaibasa – West Singhbhum district police achieved a significant victory in their anti-Naxal operations as PLFI area commander Lambu was killed in an encounter in the dense forests of Tomrong village under Tebo Police Station.
Encounter Details
During a combing operation in the Tomrong forest area, police engaged in a gunfight with PLFI militants. Lambu, a notorious area commander, was killed in the clash. Confirming the incident, SP Ashutosh Shekhar stated that further actions are underway to dismantle the group’s remaining network.
Police recovered a cache of items, including two pistols, four live cartridges, two empty shells, PLFI levy receipts, seven mobile phones, 10 SIM cards, a backpack, two bike keys, and ₹1,32,240 in cash.
Lambu’s Criminal Record
Lambu was a key figure in PLFI’s operations in the region. Police reports indicate that he was implicated in at least 29 cases, including extortion and violent crimes, registered across multiple police stations in the district.
Ongoing Anti-Naxal Efforts
The operation is part of a larger coordinated effort by police and security forces to combat Naxal activity in the dense forests of West Singhbhum. SP Shekhar emphasized that such operations will continue until the region is free from Naxal influence.
The successful operation reflects the increasing effectiveness of joint security measures against Naxal insurgents.
