Tragic Electrocution Incident During Tazia Procession in Bermo in Bokaro Claims Four Lives
Four individuals lost their lives in an electrocution mishap during a Tazia procession in Bokaro’s Petarwar region, leading to seven critically injured.
BOKARO – In a heartbreaking incident, four individuals were electrocuted during a Tazia procession in the small hamlet of Khetko, located in the Petarwar region of Bokaro.
The unfortunate event occurred on Saturday morning, around 5:30 AM, resulting in an oppressive atmosphere of sorrow throughout the village.
Electrocution Incident Details
It is reported that the Tazia from the Imambara in the Dargah neighbourhood of Khetko village, had come into contact with nearby 11,000-volt wires.
The batteries being carried with the Tazia got a surge of electric current and that reportedly resulted in a blast.
This lead to four individuals immediately losing their lives, while nine others sustained injuries.

Victims and Survivors
The deceased have been identified as Asif Raza (21), Enamul Rab (35), Ghulam Hussain (18), and Sajid Alam (18).
Asif was the cousin of Ghulam Hussain and Sajid, who also perished in the incident.
According to preliminary findings, all three were students, while Inamul Rab was a daily wage worker with two young children.
Hospitalization and Injured Condition
Out of the nine injured, two were given initial medical assistance and were able to return home.
However, the remaining seven have been reported to be in critical condition, being treated at Bokaro Thermal and Bokaro BGH.
According to this report, Lal Mohammad and Arif Ansari, two of the injured individuals, have been discharged from the hospital.
Government Response and Compensation
Following the incident, Bermo MLA Kumar Jaimangal Singh stated that he had informed CM Hemant Soren about the situation.
In response, the CM assured that each bereaved family would receive compensation amounting to two lakh rupees, along with family benefits.
Furthermore, the MLA mentioned that the injured would receive a compensation of Rs 50,000.
The Chief Minister Hemant Soren has expressed grief at the accident and has wished speedy recovery for the injured.
