But Amit Mishra, a soft-spoken scholar from Jamshedpur, has done just that by earning a place at the globally renowned London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) for their MSc program in Organisational and Social Psychology, with a 100 percent scholarship that will fully fund his studies.

After completing his early education in the city, Amit went on to pursue a Master’s degree from the Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), Hyderabad, followed by a PGDM from IMT Ghaziabad. Over the years, he also gained rich professional exposure, having worked with Tata Industries Limited and as a research professional at the Indian School of Business (ISB), where he deepened his understanding of strategy and organizational behavior.
Today, he works as a researcher at IMT Hyderabad, where his work focuses on making workplaces more human, more emotionally intelligent, more innovative, more resilient.
His research speaks to the future of work, exploring how leadership, emotional well-being, and workplace design can help people thrive. It is no surprise then that his ideas have already been recognized on national and international stages.
In February 2024, Amit was awarded the Dr. Ram Tarneja Award for Best Article in Management, a recognition presented by Education Minister Dr. Dharmendra Pradhan and NITI Aayog CEO Amitabh Kant. Shortly after, he was also inducted as a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts (RSA), London for his contributions to leadership and workplace well-being.
For Amit, though, success is never just about accolades.
“It has always been about making my city and my country proud,” he says, “by the strength of my ideas and the honesty of my work.”
There is a quiet conviction in the way he speaks, no grandstanding, just a deep sense of responsibility.
As he gets ready to begin his journey to London, Amit is not just packing credentials and hopes. He is carrying the spirit of Jamshedpur, the values, memories, and resilience that shaped him.
