MEDININAGAR – A brutal gang war erupted in Palamu’s Garda village under the Chainpur police station, resulting in the death of two Pandey gang members, Bharat Pandey alias Bharat Singh and Deepak Saw. Both were gunned down while asleep in a relative’s house late Sunday night.

The attackers, believed to belong to a rival faction, broke into the locked house and unleashed indiscriminate fire. Police investigations revealed that Bharat and Deepak had been hiding in the village since December 31. Two other individuals in a nearby room, Anshu Singh and Mahavir Singh, were injured in the attack and are recovering at Medinirai Medical College Hospital.

Attack Details and Investigations

Police reported that six attackers carried out the assault, gaining entry by breaking the door lock. Investigators suspect the use of a 7.65mm pistol, supported by the recovery of 30 casings scattered at the scene. A sniffer dog traced the attackers’ path to a nearby main road, where their getaway vehicle was allegedly parked.

Local residents are gripped with fear following the incident. “The gunfire startled us; the criminals fled on foot towards the main road,” shared Bharat’s uncle, Ajoy Singh, who was sleeping in another room.

Crime History and Arrests

The victims were reportedly involved in various crimes in the Ramgarh district, with Bharat being a key figure in multiple gang disputes. Authorities have detained Bharat Pandey’s driver, a Palamu native who had been working with him for three months.

Sadar SDPO Manibhushan Prasad emphasized that every lead is being examined. “We are investigating how the attackers acquired precise information about their targets,” he said. Forensic experts from Ranchi are assisting in the probe.

Community Impact and Safety Concerns

The incident has heightened concerns over gang violence in the region. Garda village, known for its dense population, now faces increased security measures. Local residents are urging authorities to intensify patrolling and ensure swift justice for the victims.

Police Action and Next Steps

Chainpur Police and other local officials are exploring all angles, including potential leaks of information and rivalries among criminal factions. The injured individuals are expected to recover soon, bringing critical eyewitness accounts to the investigation.
