JAMSHEDPUR – Arka Jain University hosted a yoga session to mark International Yoga Day, focusing on holistic health and women’s empowerment.

Arka Jain University celebrated International Yoga Day with a comprehensive yoga session aimed at promoting overall health awareness among its students, faculty, and staff. The event featured yoga instructor Poonam Verma as the resource person, who delivered a lecture on "Yoga for Women’s Empowerment."

Verma emphasized yoga’s power in enhancing women’s strength, flexibility, and mental well-being. "Yoga is a potent practice for women, fostering confidence both on and off the mat," she stated during the session.

The morning program included warm-up exercises, asanas, pranayama, and meditation, with Verma guiding participants through each practice.

Dr. Amit Kumar Srivastava, Director and Registrar of the university, highlighted yoga’s benefits: "Regular practice develops physical strength, mental acuity, self-confidence, and thoughtful responsiveness."

Prof. Angad Tiwari, Dean of Student Welfare, added, "Yoga enables a sense of completeness, presence, and peace. It aids in improving flexibility, balance, muscle tone, and even weight management."

The event saw participation from all sectors of the university community, including teachers, students, and non-teaching staff.

This yoga day celebration followed a countdown session held on June 20, where international yoga instructors Anu Anand and Shilpa J conducted an online session on micro-exercises and Surya Namaskar.

The university’s NSS unit, School of Nursing, and Fashion Design department collaborated to organize this comprehensive yoga program, emphasizing the institution’s commitment to holistic student development.
