JAMSHEDPUR – A case has been registered against BJP leader Abhay Singh and others following a violent altercation at a Durga Puja pandal in Kasidih.
The charges stem from an incident at the Kasidih Durga Puja pandal in Sakchi.
Authorities have accused Singh and 20 others of attempted murder and firearm threats.
The case was formally filed on Monday after a complaint was submitted the previous night.
Ravindra Yadav, a local resident, reported the violent confrontation in his complaint.
He alleged that Singh and his associates accosted him and his brother Dharmendra.
According to the complaint, the assailants used abusive language and brandished firearms.
The victims claim they were forcibly taken to an office and physically assaulted.
Moreover, the attackers allegedly stole a gold chain and Rs 5,200 from Dharmendra.
However, Singh has vehemently denied these accusations in a press conference.
He claims the incident is a political conspiracy orchestrated by Minister Banna Gupta.
Singh accused Gupta of fabricating charges to undermine his family’s popularity.
He demanded a medical board investigation into the injuries sustained by Dharmendra.
The BJP leader also called for an examination of video footage from the incident.
Meanwhile, the police have registered the case under various sections of the BNS 2023 Act.
Authorities are actively investigating the matter as tensions rise in the area.
