Junior Doctors’ Strike Continues for Fifth Day at Jamshedpur MGM Medical College

OPD Services Halted as Junior Doctors Protest Against Kolkata Incident; Emergency Services Disrupted.

The junior doctors’ strike at Kolhan’s largest government hospital, MGM Medical College, entered its fifth day on Tuesday, causing significant disruption to healthcare services.

JAMSHEDPUR – The ongoing strike by junior doctors at MGM Medical College in Jamshedpur continued for the fifth consecutive day on Tuesday, with all junior doctors staging a sit-in protest in front of the hospital.

The strike, initiated in response to the rape and murder of a junior doctor in Kolkata, has led to the complete suspension of emergency services, further aggravating the plight of patients.

As the OPD remained closed, distressed patients flocked to the emergency ward, leading to overcrowding.

Home guard personnel intervened to manage the situation and calm the patients.

MGM Superintendent Ravindra Kumar also visited the emergency ward to address the escalating tensions among the patients.

After discussions, the situation was brought under control, and the crowd was dispersed from the emergency area.

The striking doctors, however, remain firm in their demands.

Ganesh Srivastava, a representative of the Junior Doctors’ Association, stated that the strike would continue until their demands are met.

He mentioned that while the OPD remains closed, emergency services are ongoing.

The Kolkata rape and murder case has reached the Supreme Court, which has brought a sense of hope among the protesting doctors for a favorable outcome.

A meeting between the striking doctors and the superintendent is scheduled for Tuesday, after which a decision on the continuation of the strike will be made.
