Jamshedpur Police Ramp Up Security for Durga Puja

46 checkpoints set up across city to ensure festive order

Key Points:

• Police establish 46 checkpoints to address complaints promptly

• Female officers deployed to handle harassment incidents

• Plainclothes police to monitor crowded areas and markets

JAMSHEDPUR – Authorities in Jamshedpur have implemented stringent measures to maintain law and order during Durga Puja celebrations.

The city police have set up 46 checkpoints across Jamshedpur.

Moreover, these checkpoints aim to address any complaints or issues swiftly.

Female officers will be strategically deployed in crowded areas.

On the other hand, their presence is intended to handle potential harassment incidents effectively.

Police officials across all station areas have received specific festival-related instructions.

Furthermore, there’s a strong focus on curbing drug abuse and inappropriate behavior at puja pandals.

"Anyone attempting to disrupt the festive atmosphere will not be spared," a police official warned.

Meanwhile, puja pandal volunteers have been directed to report any suspicious activities promptly.

They are instructed to inform the police control room immediately about drug-related incidents.

However, the police’s vigilance extends beyond the pandals this year.

Random hotel inspections will be conducted following last year’s reports of unethical activities.

In addition, both male and female officers in plainclothes will monitor crowded areas.

These undercover officers will be stationed in busy markets and gathering spots.

Consequently, they can maintain order and address incidents discreetly.

The police are currently identifying key locations where large crowds are expected.

Besides pandals, markets and other public spaces will be under close surveillance.

This comprehensive approach aims to ensure a safe and enjoyable festival for all attendees.

"Our goal is to create a secure environment for genuine celebration," a reliable source stated.

The authorities emphasize that these measures are preventive and not meant to dampen the festivities.
