National ST Commission Member Inspects JWU Hostel

Dr. Asha Lakra visits CV Raman Hostel, praises facilities and university achievements

Dr. Asha Lakra, Member of the National Scheduled Tribes Commission, conducted an inspection of the CV Raman Hostel at Jamshedpur Women’s University.

JAMSHEDPUR – Dr. Asha Lakra and her team from the National Scheduled Tribes Commission visited Jamshedpur Women’s University to inspect the CV Raman Hostel facilities.

The delegation received a warm traditional welcome featuring dance performances and an NSS clap.

NCC students escorted the visitors during their tour of the hostel premises.

Dr. Ratna Mitra, the Hostel Superintendent, along with hostel staff and Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Anjila Gupta, accompanied the inspection team.

Following the hostel walkthrough, a program was held in the Audio-Visual Hall, presided over by Prof. Dr. Gupta.

In her address, Dr. Gupta expressed gratitude to Dr. Lakra and highlighted the university’s accomplishments.

Dr. Lakra commended Jamshedpur Women’s University as a pioneering institution, being the first women’s university in Jharkhand.

She emphasized the importance of changing mindsets towards Scheduled Tribes and advocated for inclusive progress.

The National ST Commission member praised the hostel’s food arrangements and overall facilities, noting the provision for skilled cooks and quality meals.

During her visit, Dr. Lakra interacted with hostel students, explaining the functions of the Scheduled Tribe Commission.

"There is a need for a shift in the mindset towards Scheduled Tribes to ensure inclusive progress," Dr. Lakra stated during her address.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks and stage management by Dr. Nupur Anvita Minj.

Various university dignitaries attended the program, including Research Officer PK, Welfare Officer Rajendra Prasad Gupta, and Proctor Dr. Sudhir Kumar Sahu.

Dean of Student Welfare Dr. Kishwar Ara, Controller of Examinations Dr. Rama Subramaniam, faculty members, and students were also present at the event.
