Jharkhand Train Derailment: 2 Lakh Aid Announced for Victims’ Families

State ministers visit accident site; CM Soren expresses concern over rising rail mishaps

Jharkhand government announces financial assistance for victims of Howrah-Mumbai train derailment, as ministers visit the accident site in Barabambo.

RANCHI – Deepak Birua, the Tribal Welfare Minister, and Health Minister Banna Gupta visited the Howrah-Mumbai train derailment site in Barabambo to announce financial assistance for the victims.

The Jharkhand government has designated Rs 2 lakh for each family member of the deceased passengers.

In the event of an injury, each passenger will receive Rs 50,000 in assistance.

Hemant Soren, the Chief Minister, conveyed his profound sympathies for the victims of the incident.

Soren expressed his apprehension regarding the escalating number of rail catastrophes.

"The train that was intended to operate on the track is being derailed." "This also results in the loss of life and property," Soren stated.

He criticized the Railway Ministry’s assertions that it had implemented sophisticated safety devices.

Banna Gupta, the Health Minister, criticized the Prime Minister and the Railway Ministry for their purported inability to prevent such incidents.

The JMM party accused Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw of prioritizing passenger safety over social media presence.

JMM stated in a post on X, "Request that the Railway Minister cease the production of reels and concentrate on the railways."

The railway minister and the central government are solely responsible for the catastrophe, according to the ruling party in Jharkhand.

The railway minister’s purported emphasis on social media content over safety measures has been met with criticism from opposition parties.

The effect on middle and lower-middle-class passengers, who significantly depend on railway transport, was emphasized by CM Soren.

He characterized the railway system as a "shattered lifeline" for numerous Indians.

A team was promptly dispatched by the state government to evaluate the ongoing relief and rescue operations at the accident site.
