Ex-Serviceman Alleges Assault by Police in Kadma

Complaint Filed Against ASI After Clash at Roadside Check

JAMSHEDPUR – A former serviceman has accused police personnel of assault and misconduct in Kadma and sought action from senior officials.

The incident occurred in Kadma area of Jamshedpur on April 16 evening. However, the dispute involved a PCR team and a retired naval officer.

Prakash Kumar Patel visited a local shop around 7:40 pm. Meanwhile, a PCR unit was photographing roadside parked vehicles.

He alleged that ASI Mahavir Upadhyay stopped him suddenly. However, a verbal argument began after he questioned the reason.

Patel claimed the ASI used abusive language during the exchange. Moreover, he alleged the officer slapped him, injuring his ear.

He further accused the PCR driver Sanjeev Kumar of joining the assault. Meanwhile, the driver reportedly got down and attacked him.

Patel said he tried to leave the location quickly. However, he alleged the driver chased him briefly.

He stated that he recorded the entire incident on video. Moreover, the footage reportedly shows policemen abusing and pursuing him.

The video has been submitted to the Senior Superintendent of Police. Meanwhile, Patel claimed the ASI appeared intoxicated during the incident.

He also alleged that the officer’s uniform was not in proper condition. However, these claims are yet to be verified officially.

After the altercation, police took his vehicle to Kadma police station. Meanwhile, it was later released when he returned with fellow ex-servicemen.

Several former servicemen accompanied him to submit a written complaint. Moreover, they demanded strict action against the accused officers.

The group also expressed strong dissatisfaction over the incident. However, police have not issued any official response so far.

Authorities are expected to examine the submitted video evidence. Meanwhile, further inquiry may determine the facts of the case.
