Online Passport Verification Launched in Jamshedpur
SSP Kishore Kaushal Announces Streamlined Process Using M Passport App
Digital initiative aims to expedite passport issuance, with police stations now equipped for direct online verification.
JAMSHEDPUR – The city’s passport verification process has gone digital, marking a significant shift in the application procedure for residents.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kishore Kaushal unveiled the new system, stating, "We’ve simplified police verification to enhance efficiency and reduce processing time."
Under the new protocol, verification requests bypass the passport office, going directly to the concerned police station.
Each station has received a tablet equipped with the M Passport app, enabling immediate document checks and online result submission.
"Officers must complete verifications within five days. Delays or errors will result in disciplinary action," Kaushal emphasized.
The streamlined process allows for swift background checks of applicants, with clearance reports promptly forwarded to the police office.
A police official, speaking anonymously, explained, "Once verification is complete, passports can be issued within three days."
This digital transition aims to reduce the overall time from application to passport delivery, benefiting thousands of city residents.
Local resident Priya Sharma expressed optimism about the change, saying, "I hope this means less time waiting and fewer visits to government offices."
The success of this initiative could set a precedent for other cities looking to modernize their passport services.
