Leaders Discuss Strategies for Sustainable Growth and Innovation in Manufacturing
The 11th edition of the Manufacturing Conclave East highlighted India’s potential to become a global manufacturing hub, emphasizing sustainability and technological advancement.
JAMSHEDPUR – The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) hosted its 11th Manufacturing Conclave East, drawing industry leaders to discuss the future of manufacturing in India.
The event, held at The Cruze in Jamshedpur, focused on preparing the sector for upcoming challenges and opportunities.
Kamal Bali, President and Managing Director of Volvo Group India, delivered a compelling keynote address.
"Despite global economic turbulence, India has achieved an impressive 8.2% GDP growth. Maintaining this trajectory could lift millions out of poverty," Bali remarked, outlining his vision for India’s economic future.
Economic Projections and Strategies
Bali projected a potential growth of India’s manufacturing sector from $600 billion in 2024 to $6 trillion by 2047.
"Adaptability, flexibility, and agility are key ingredients for our nation’s economic recipe," he emphasized, stressing the importance of sustainable practices.
Regional Manufacturing Landscape
Suvendra Behera, CII Eastern Region Chairman, highlighted the manufacturing sector’s current contribution to India’s GDP.
"We aim to increase manufacturing’s share in the national GDP from 16-17% to at least 25% by 2025," Behera stated, addressing concerns about skilled workforce retention.
Jharkhand’s Industrial Prowess
Ujjal Chakraborti, former CII Jharkhand State Council Chairman, spotlighted Jharkhand’s manufacturing strengths.
"Our state’s strategic location and mineral wealth have established it as a key player in steel and automotive industries," Chakraborti noted, citing the state’s recent 7.5% GSDP growth.
Sustainability and Innovation Focus
Ravindra Kulkarni of Tata Motors emphasized India’s commitment to sustainability and technological advancement.
"Our goal of carbon neutrality by 2070 requires a synergy of digital transformation, data analytics, and robotics," Kulkarni explained.
Future-Ready Manufacturing
The conclave featured sessions on global value chains, intelligent manufacturing technologies, and sustainable practices.
"This event aims to equip our industry with strategies to navigate the evolving manufacturing landscape," said a CII spokesperson.
Over 200 participants engaged in discussions and networking opportunities, exploring partnerships and new business prospects in the manufacturing sector.
The event underscored the manufacturing industry’s pivotal role in India’s economic growth and its potential to become a global leader in sustainable and innovative production.
