Schools Unite for EcoCon 2024 to Showcase Eco Club Initiatives in Jamshedpur

JAMSHEDPUR – Schools from across Jamshedpur united at EcoCon 2024, where they shared their experiences and initiatives from their respective Eco Clubs in a collaborative event focused on environmental conservation.
The event, held on September 7, 2024, at the Tata Steel Zoological Park’s NEC Building, was jointly organized by the park and the Rotary Club of Jamshedpur.
It provided a unique platform for students to present their schools’ efforts in areas such as waste management, energy conservation, and biodiversity preservation.
The gathering included 75 participants from 15 schools, each highlighting the innovative projects their Eco Clubs have spearheaded.
Shri Saba Alam Ansari, Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) of Jamshedpur, attended the event and applauded the students’ dedication to environmental stewardship.
"Your efforts are crucial in preserving our region’s biodiversity," he remarked.
The DFO also awarded certificates to all participants, acknowledging their contributions.
He further offered support to schools needing plant saplings, promising free supplies from the Forest Department, and encouraged them to partake in the "Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam" initiative by the Government of India.
Participants also explored the Butterfly Park at the zoo, where they learned about the life cycle of butterflies and their role in maintaining ecological balance.
This immersive experience capped off an event that highlighted the importance of environmental education and the power of collaboration.
