Saraikela-Kharsawan SP Manish Toppo Transferred, Mukesh Lunayat New SP
Mukesh Lunayat appointed as new Seraikela-Kharsawan police chief after just 3 months
Frequent changes in leadership raise questions about district administration
SARAIKELA – In a surprising move, Saraikela-Kharsawan Superintendent of Police (SP) Manish Toppo has been removed from his post after serving for just three months.
Mukesh Lunayat, currently serving as City SP of Jamshedpur, has been appointed as the new SP of Saraikela-Kharsawan district.
"The notification for Lunayat’s appointment has been issued," a senior official confirmed. "The Rural SP will temporarily oversee City SP duties in Jamshedpur."
Key Points:
– Manish Toppo took charge on March 1, 2024
– Mukesh Lunayat will be the 21st SP since the district’s formation in 2001
– Toppo directed to report to police headquarters
This rapid change in leadership has raised eyebrows, especially considering Saraikela-Kharsawan is the home district of outgoing Chief Minister Champai Soren.
"Such frequent transfers can disrupt ongoing investigations and administrative continuity," noted a retired police official, speaking on condition of anonymity.
History of Frequent Changes
Saraikela-Kharsawan has seen 21 SPs in its 23-year history as a district. Notable points:
– First SP: Naresh Prasad Singh
– Dr. Bimal Kumar was also transferred after just 7 months
– Officers like Priya Dubey, Lakshman Singh, and Indrajit Mahatha have served in this role
This pattern of rapid transfers has sparked discussions about the stability of district administration and its potential impact on law enforcement effectiveness.
Local political observers are speculating about the reasons behind these frequent changes in such a politically significant district.
