Power Mishap Strikes Adityapur’s Gumti Basti Market

Fallen tree branch causes short circuit, damaging electronics in homes and shops

Early morning incident averts major disaster, highlights need for improved infrastructure maintenance.

ADITYAPUR – A potentially dangerous electrical incident occurred in the early hours of Saturday near the Gumti Basti railway crossing in Adityapur, Saraikela-Kharsawan district.

A neem tree branch fell on overhead power lines above Ravi Medical Store, causing a short circuit.

The incident resulted in damage to electrical and electronic items in several homes and shops in the area.

Fortunately, power was quickly cut off, preventing a more serious accident in the bustling market area.

TMC leader Babu Tanti arrived at the scene promptly and alerted electricity department officials.

Despite the electricity department office being just 100 meters away, repair crews took nearly three hours to respond.

Residents expressed frustration over the delayed response from the electricity department.

Workers finally arrived around 8 AM to begin repairing the damaged power lines.

The incident highlights the vulnerability of the area’s electrical infrastructure, especially given its dense population and busy market.

Local authorities are facing criticism for the slow response and apparent lack of regular maintenance.

Community leaders are calling for a comprehensive review of electrical safety measures in the area.

The incident serves as a wake-up call for improved emergency response protocols in Adityapur’s urban areas.
