Chhau Dance Program Enthralls Villagers in Kochapur

A two-day Chhau dance program in Kochapur village under Sonua block of Manoharpur assembly constituency concluded with a captivating performance, celebrating the rich cultural heritage of Jharkhand.
CHAKRADHARPUR – A two-day Chhau dance program was organized in Kochapur village under Sonua block of Manoharpur assembly constituency in West Singhbhum.
The closing ceremony featured West Singhbhum JDU District President Vishram Munda as the chief guest.
Chhau artists from the village enthralled the audience with their performances.
The program commenced with artists wearing Ganesh Bandana.
Chhau dances based on Maa Durga, Shiva glory, Ganesh, Kartik Mahishasura killing, Luv Kush, agriculture, and folk tales were presented.
Vishram Munda, the chief guest, emphasized that Chhau dance is the identity of Jharkhand and a dance style rooted in mythology.
He highlighted the significance of Chhau dances like Mahishasur Mardani, Bali Sugriva war, Ram Katha, and Lord Birsa Munda Chhau dance.
Munda praised the Chhau artists for preserving this glorious tradition of Jharkhand.
He also encouraged villagers to actively participate in the development of society and the region, alongside preserving art and culture.
Munda expressed efforts to establish a Chhau Dance Academy in the area to support artists in making a career through Chhau dance.
The Chhau artists received a lot of applause for their captivating performances.
Vishram Munda was honored according to tribal customs and provided financial support to the committee and the artists.
Notable attendees included Debu Kumar, Santan Kumar, Parfullo Napit, Ajay Napit, Devendra Kumar, Chamu Munda, Krishna Munda, Rajesh Kumar, Soyto Pradhan, Nishikant Napit, Manas Kumar, Rajesh Mukhi, Sakuntala Kumar, Belmati Napit, Sukhmati Kumar, Sarojini Napit, and Raimani Kui.
