CHAKRADHARPUR – The Masant festival in Chakradharpur assembly witnessed several cultural programs, with Chhau dance taking the spotlight in rural areas.

On Saturday, Chhau dance events were held in various villages within the Chakradharpur and Bandgaon blocks.
MLA Sukhram Oraon attended the Chhau dance festivals in Nalita and Banjhi Kusum villages as the chief guest.
The dance troupe warmly welcomed MLA Oraon, presenting him with a bouquet on behalf of the organizing committee.
In his speech, MLA Oraon emphasized the significance of Jharkhand’s folk art, particularly Chhau dance, which has roots in Saraikela.
"The folk art of Jharkhand needs no introduction today," said MLA Oraon. "Chhau dance, originating from Saraikela, is now renowned both nationally and internationally."
He highlighted that people from abroad come to learn Chhau from the gurus in Saraikela and surrounding districts.
Encouraging the artists, MLA Oraon urged them to continue excelling and showcasing their talent globally.
In Nalita village, two dance troupes performed various types of Chhau dances throughout the night.
The event saw participation from officials of the organizing committee and local villagers.
Attendees included Raghuveer Munda, Railsingh Kumhar, Ajay Gop, Rohit Munda, Akash Kumhar, Natwar Munda, Shatrughan Munda, Ader Munda, Mahesh Munda, Shrisant Gop, Satish Samadd, and Rajesh Munda.
In Banjhi Kusum village, the event was graced by Manaranjan Bodra, Manaki Jonko, Bablu Jonko, Kishore Boypai, Sundar Bodra, Sukra Gop, Kunwar Singh Bodra, Raja Champia, Amit Jonko, Thomas Champia, Bablu Joko Sunia Sumburui, Balabhadra Subrui, Bhushan Manjhi, Manoj Melgandi, Amar Singh Bodra, Vinay Pradhan.
The Chhau dance festivals highlighted the vibrant cultural heritage of Jharkhand and the dedication of its artists.
