National Para Badminton Championship Thrills Jamshedpur
450 athletes from 22 states compete in prestigious tournament at JRD Tata Sports Complex
The 6th National Para Badminton Championship 2023-24, hosted by Tata Steel Sports Department, concluded with great success and fanfare at the Mohan Ahuja Stadium and New Badminton Hall in Jamshedpur.
JAMSHEDPUR – Organized from March 19 to 23, the championship was graced by prominent figures including Chanakya Chaudhary and Rajiv Mangal from Tata Steel, showcasing the company’s commitment to promoting sports inclusivity.
The collaboration between Tata Steel, the Tata Steel Foundation, the Badminton Association of India, Para Olympics, and the Jharkhand Badminton Association highlighted the collective effort to celebrate diversity and inclusivity through sports.
With over 450 participants from 22 states, including 292 male and 72 female athletes, the championship offered a platform for extraordinary talent in para badminton to shine.
Esteemed athletes like Manoj Sarkar and Palak Kohli were among the top competitors, contributing to the intense competitive spirit of the event.
The championship featured 22 categories, showcasing the agility, speed, and precision of the athletes, much to the awe and admiration of spectators.
The event was also marked by the presence of "Arohan," the mascot symbolizing progress and resilience, adding a unique and inspirational touch to the championship.
This edition of the National Para Badminton Championship not only provided thrilling sports action but also underscored the importance of para sports in fostering an inclusive sporting culture in India.
