JAMSHEDPUR – Tata Power has inked a monumental ₹1.2 lakh crore deal with Rajasthan, aiming to revolutionize the state’s power sector over the next decade.

The power giant has set its sights on transforming Rajasthan’s energy landscape. This ambitious plan encompasses a wide array of initiatives across the power value chain.

"Our partnership with Rajasthan aligns with our vision for a low-carbon, integrated energy ecosystem," stated Dr. Praveer Sinha, CEO & MD of Tata Power.

The company intends to invest ₹75,000 crore in renewable energy projects. This substantial commitment underscores Tata Power’s dedication to sustainable power generation.

A state-of-the-art solar module manufacturing facility is on the horizon for Jodhpur. This ₹2,000 crore investment will bolster India’s domestic manufacturing capabilities.

Tata Power’s plans extend beyond generation to include transmission and distribution upgrades. The firm aims to modernize grid infrastructure and improve power quality statewide.

Electric mobility is another key focus area for the company. "We’re planning to install 1 lakh EV charging points across Rajasthan," revealed an insider familiar with the project.

The MoU also explores the possibility of developing a nuclear power plant. This diversification strategy aims to ensure a stable and varied energy mix for the state.

Rooftop solar installations are set to receive a significant boost. Tata Power plans to support the PM Surya Ghar Yojana by providing solar power to 10 lakh households.

The agreement is expected to have far-reaching socio-economic impacts. It promises to create over 28,000 direct jobs and stimulate local industry growth.

"This partnership will position Rajasthan as a future-ready, energy-efficient state," commented a local energy expert.

Tata Power’s existing projects in Rajasthan include 1 GW of solar and 185 MW of wind capacity. The company also manages 130 MW of rooftop solar installations in the state.

The ambitious MoU aligns with India’s broader clean energy goals. It supports the nation’s target of installing 500 GW of renewable capacity by 2030.
