Over 460 athletes gather for para badminton showdown in Jamshedpur

The 6th National Para Badminton Championship 2023 kicks off, showcasing top talent and promoting inclusivity in sports.

JAMSHEDPUR – The Mohan Ahuja Stadium and Tata Steel Badminton Training Centre at the JRD Tata Sports Complex are abuzz with excitement and competitive spirit as the 6th National Para Badminton Championship 2023 unfolds.

This prestigious event, organized by Tata Steel and Tata Steel Foundation under the aegis of the Badminton Association of India, Para Olympics, and Jharkhand Badminton Association, promises a thrilling display of skill, resilience, and sportsmanship.

A mascot named “Arohan” symbolizing progress and resilience in the para badminton community was recently introduced, adding to the championship’s vibrant atmosphere.

The championship, a testament to the indomitable spirit and determination of para athletes, is not just a sporting event but a celebration of resilience.

Located within the JRD Tata Sport Complex, the Mohan Ahuja Stadium is set to host unforgettable moments and fierce competition.

Athletes are competing in 22 categories, offering spectators thrilling matches and inspiring performances.

The championship boasts 205 male and 95 female participants, with matches played in the best of 3 sets format under the watchful eyes of national and state umpires.

More than 300 knockout matches are scheduled, following an intense day of over 220 qualifying rounds.

With over 460 players from 22 states, the championship is a vibrant display of talent and determination.

The event was inaugurated in the presence of Mukul Vinayak Choudhari, Chief Sports, Tata Steel, marking the start of a highly anticipated para badminton showcase.
