JNAC Demolishes 25 Shops in Shatabdi Tower Basement to Curb Traffic Congestion

Unauthorized commercial activities in parking area prompt enforcement action

The Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee (JNAC) has initiated the demolition of 25 shops situated in the basement of Shatabdi Tower near the Sakchi roundabout. The shops, originally intended for parking purposes, were being used for commercial activities, leading to traffic congestion in the area.

JAMSHEDPUR – In a bid to tackle traffic congestion caused by unauthorized commercial activities, the Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee (JNAC) has commenced the demolition of 25 shops located in the basement of Shatabdi Tower, close to the Sakchi roundabout. The shops, meant for parking, were being misused for business purposes, prompting the enforcement action.

Upon arriving at the scene, the JNAC enforcement team disconnected the power supply and instructed the vehicles to vacate the premises.

The demolition process was overseen by JNAC Engineer MK Pradhan, Sakchi Police, SDO Sanjay Singh, Assistant Engineer Ramesh Bhagat, and a Magistrate.

The current demolition efforts are part of a larger campaign to enforce local regulations, following the sealing of Shatabdi Tower’s basement in 2011 due to unauthorized usage.

The court’s intervention has led to the present actions, aimed at restoring order and adherence to designated purposes.

By ensuring that the basement is used solely for parking vehicles, authorities expect to alleviate traffic congestion around the Sakchi roundabout.

The presence of unauthorized shops and stands engaged in buying and selling used cars in the Sakchi parking lot has been a cause for concern.

Despite objections, these activities continued to expand, leading to increased congestion and inconvenience for the public.

The deputy municipal commissioner reiterated that the parking area is strictly meant for parking vehicles and that commercial activities are not permitted.

Further action is anticipated to address the encroachment issue and restore order to the locality.

The demolition drive serves as a strong message to those engaging in unauthorized activities, emphasizing the importance of adhering to designated land use and maintaining public spaces for their intended purposes.

As the JNAC continues its efforts to curb illegal commercial activities, residents hope for a more organized and congestion-free environment in the Sakchi area.
