Mysterious Circumstances Surround Disappearance of Elephant Calf Near Lugahara
In a somber incident last weekend, the remains of a baby elephant were found in a remote area near Lugahara, leading to heightened wildlife monitoring.
BAHARAGORA – The sad discovery of a decomposed baby elephant carcass in a secluded cashew forest has drawn attention from local authorities.
Residents revealed that a group of elephants, including a calf, appeared to reclaim the body by Sunday morning, suggesting a solemn procession back towards West Bengal.
The initial discovery was made close to Lugahara village, abutting the West Bengal border. The unfortunate elephant reportedly died earlier in West Bengal and was subsequently transported by its herd to the edge of Jharkhand.
The Forest Department, hindered by the terrain and the presence of a protective herd, faced significant challenges in accessing the site.
Local forest officials have since intensified their surveillance of elephant movements across this sensitive border region to prevent further incidents.
