Jharkhand CM Pushes for Fair Implementation of Forest Rights Act

Champai Soren warns against arbitrary cancellation of forest patta applications

Jharkhand government emphasizes transparent distribution of forest land rights to tribal and native communities in "Abua Veer, Abua Dishom" campaign.

RANCHI – Chief Minister Champai Soren has issued a stern warning to officials regarding the implementation of the Forest Rights Act, emphasizing fair treatment of forest patta applications.

"Strict action will be taken against those deliberately canceling forest patta applications," Soren declared at a workshop in Ranchi.

The CM called for simplification and transparency in the Forest Rights Act process, ensuring respect for all communities living in forest areas.

"Distributing forest rights to tribals and natives is a top priority for our government," Soren stated, addressing the "ABUA BIR ABUA DISHOM ABHIYAN" workshop.

Soren highlighted the campaign’s goal to address shortcomings in forest patta distribution, aiming for success in meeting targets.

The Chief Minister expressed concern over thousands of canceled forest patta applications across Jharkhand in the 18 years since the Act’s inception.

"We must implement the state’s roadmap for settling forest lease claims at any cost," Soren emphasized.

Birua Deepak, Minister for Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe and Backward Class Welfare, stressed the Act’s importance in protecting forest-dwelling families.

The government aims to deepen understanding of the Forest Rights Act’s purpose and sentiment among officials and beneficiaries.

This initiative reflects Jharkhand’s commitment to empowering forest communities and ensuring their land rights.
