Mango Municipal Corporation fails to provide adequate water supply, residents protest
Residents of Dimna Colony in Mango, Jamshedpur, are grappling with an acute water shortage, forcing them to fetch water from Dimna Lake, about five kilometers away, as the summer season approaches.
JAMSHEDPUR – The residents of Dimna Colony in Mango, Jamshedpur, have been struggling with the non-availability of water for several days, leading to an outcry among the community.
Despite the Mango Municipal Corporation’s assurance to arrange water tankers as an alternative, the supply has been insufficient to meet the colony’s needs.
The residents‘ patience broke when the promised water tanker failed to reach the colony on time, leading to protests against the local district administration and the MLA cum Minister.
Residents’ Plight and Protests
Women of the colony said they have been facing severe water problems for the last several days, forcing them to wake up at four in the morning to fetch water from Dimna Lake.
The non-availability of water has caused delays in leaving for work and has greatly inconvenienced the residents.
The colony residents accused the Mango Municipal Corporation of merely giving assurances while not lagging behind in collecting taxes.
BJP leader Vikas Singh visited Dimna Basti and informed the officials of the Drinking Water Health Department and Municipal Corporation about the matter.
He warned that if the water problem is not resolved soon, the city residents will be forced to surround the Deputy Commissioner’s office and the local MLA cum Minister’s residence in protest.
