Jamshedpur Residents Get Digital Access to Civic Grievance System

Public Grievance Management System streamlines municipal complaint process

Jharkhand’s urban areas benefit from multi-channel platform for registering and resolving civic issues, enhancing citizen engagement in local governance.

JAMSHEDPUR – Residents of Jamshedpur and surrounding urban areas can now register civic complaints and suggestions from home through the Public Grievance Management System (PGMS).

"This system eliminates the need for in-person visits to officials," a spokesperson for the Urban Development Department stated.

The PGMS, operated by the Directorate of Urban Administration, has resolved 82,050 out of 83,169 complaints since its inception.

Citizens can access the system via toll-free number 1800-120-2929, WhatsApp/SMS at 7633928444, website info.

The platform covers issues including road and drain construction, water supply, PM Housing (Urban), and illegal construction.

"PGMS has been operational since December 2016, serving all 49 municipal bodies in Jharkhand," the spokesperson added.

Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee, Mango Municipal Corporation, and Jugsalai Municipal Council are among the local bodies covered.

The system aims to streamline the process of addressing civic issues and enhance citizen participation in urban governance.

Residents can now easily report problems related to cleanliness, fogging, street lights, and obtain birth-death certificates through the platform.

This digital initiative represents a significant step towards improving municipal services and responsiveness in Jamshedpur and across Jharkhand.
