Jamshedpur Enhances Voter Registration for Essential Service Personnel

In a pivotal move to heighten participation in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Shri Ananya Mittal, District Magistrate cum Deputy Commissioner, chaired a review meeting focusing on voting through postal ballots, urging a boost in voter engagement.

JAMSHEDPUR – A review meeting focusing on the postal ballot voting process for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections 2024 was organized under the leadership of District Magistrate cum Deputy Commissioner Shri Ananya Mittal.

This crucial assembly, held in the Collectorate Hall, sought to emphasize the importance of voter registration among departmental officers and employees.

Shri Mittal underscored the necessity for essential service personnel from various departments such as fire, health, and electricity to ensure their names are enlisted on the voter roster.

The meeting highlighted the need for officers and employees whose voter registrations do not align with their current residence to transfer their registration to the nearest polling station.

The directive also included the preparation of a roster for officers and employees to facilitate their voting process, alongside making arrangements for persons with disabilities (PWD) and elderly individuals to vote.

Ensuring Comprehensive Voter Engagement

Shri Mittal’s directives extended to the compilation of a list of essential service personnel eligible for postal ballot voting, mandating its availability by the following day.

He passionately called for active participation in the elections, encouraging not only the officers and employees but also their families to exercise their voting rights.

Recognizing the significant number of essential service personnel in the district, the Deputy Development Commissioner reiterated the importance of achieving 100% voting through complete voter list registration, including shift workers.

Strengthening Voter Support Systems

To facilitate voter registration and information dissemination, the public was informed that all inquiries could be addressed by contacting the dedicated number 1950.

The meeting saw the attendance of key officials including Special Officer Subdivision, Jamshedpur Mr. Deepu Kumar, District Supply Officer Mr. Salman Zafar Khizri, DCLR Mr. Gautam Kumar, and Civil Surgeon Dr. Jujhar Manjhi, showcasing a unified effort to enhance the electoral process.
