IED Blast Claims Life in Chaibasa Forest

Woman falls victim to Naxalite-triggered explosion in Jharkhand

An unfortunate incident in the Darkada forest near Vanagram Maradiri results in a woman’s death due to an IED explosion.

CHAIBASA – In a tragic event that underscores the ongoing conflict in Jharkhand, an improvised explosive device (IED) detonation in the Darkada forest near Vanagram Maradiri has led to the death of a 58-year-old woman, Randaya Purti, highlighting the perilous conditions faced by civilians amidst Naxalite activities.

Security forces, including the Chaibasa Police and CRPF, have ramped up anti-Naxal operations, particularly after the incident on 16th February 2024, which saw Randaya Purti lose her life while collecting wood in the vicinity of the explosion.

The bomb disposal squad’s successful recovery of three IED explosives near Vanagram Husipi during a comprehensive campaign underlines the persistent threat of Naxalite-planted devices aimed at security personnel and civilians alike.

In response to the growing Naxalite menace, a collaborative task force comprising Chaibasa Police, CRPF, and Jharkhand Jaguar units has been deployed for joint operations aimed at dismantling the insurgent infrastructure, as evidenced by the demolition of a temporary Naxalite camp near Sandiburu.

The incident not only reflects the hazards that rural populations face due to Naxalite strategies, including the use of pressure cooker bombs, but also the resolve of security forces to protect civilians and maintain peace in the region.

The demise of Randaya Purti has elicited condolences from the Chaibasa Police and security forces, emphasizing their commitment to ensuring the safety of the local populace against the backdrop of Naxalite insurgence.

Officials have reiterated the dedication of the Jharkhand Police and allied security agencies to counteract Naxal activities, with a focused effort on safeguarding vulnerable communities from such acts of violence.

The ongoing joint operations have not only led to the neutralization of potential threats through the seizure of IEDs but also the recovery of materials indicative of Naxalite presence, including items for making explosives and other daily necessities left behind at their encampments.

This incident brings to light the critical challenges faced by security forces in combatting Naxalism, while also demonstrating their unwavering commitment to public safety and the eradication of terrorism from the region.
