JAMSHEDPUR -Jamshedpur has reported a resurgence of COVID-19, with two new cases detected, causing concern among residents.

Both individuals are currently receiving treatment in the general ward of Tata Motors Hospital.

Jamshedpur stands as the only city in Jharkhand with active COVID-19 cases, bringing the total number to two.

Health Minister Banna Gupta has issued an alert following the district’s report of 1,296 positive cases and 1,140 deaths.

Gupta emphasized the need for constant vigilance in light of the COVID-19 situation.

The state has initiated genome sequencing across its regions to better understand the virus’s spread and mutations.

In response to the increase in new COVID cases nationwide, the RTPCR laboratory has been directed to expand its testing capacity.

Health Minister Banna Gupta has called for officials to maintain vigilance in their areas to curb virus transmission effectively.

During a virtual meeting with Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, the focus was on providing the health department with necessary resources to manage the recent spike in infections.

Collaborative efforts are underway to address the challenges posed by the rising COVID-19 cases.

India has recorded a total of 21 cases of the new JN.1 variant of coronavirus.

The JN.1 strain, identified in various parts of the country, is recognized as a “variant of interest” by the World Health Organisation due to its fast transmission rate.

However, the WHO has assessed the global public health risk associated with this variant as low.
