JAMSHEDPUR – A case of harassment and assault led to the arrest of a 20-year-old youth in Baghuria village under MGM police station jurisdiction. The accused, identified as Somray Murmu, was apprehended by Galudih police on Saturday following a complaint by the victim’s family.
The incident occurred on Friday evening when the woman, returning from a nearby river, was harassed near the forest. According to the victim’s brother, Somray Murmu not only harassed her but also physically assaulted her, causing injuries. Her cries for help alerted nearby villagers who rushed to the scene and apprehended the accused.
Villagers restrained Murmu until late evening, tying him with ropes to prevent escape. Subsequently, they informed Galudih police, who instructed them to bring the accused to the station. Following his arrival at the station, police registered a formal case under relevant sections and sent him to jail.
Such incidents highlight the role of vigilant communities in aiding law enforcement. Meanwhile, Galudih police have reinforced their commitment to addressing cases of harassment and ensuring justice for victims.
