JAMSHEDPUR – The five-day Bal Mela (Children’s Fair) in Sidhgora, organized by Swarnarekha Area Development Trust, concluded on a high note.
This non-commercial event, inaugurated by sports icons Madhukant Pathak and Bholanath Singh, attracted over 25,000 attendees.
MLA Saryu Roy, the mastermind behind the fair, emphasized its focus on children’s welfare and holistic development.
The Fair featured 45 stalls, showcasing educational tools and technology demonstrations, with no rental fees or political influence.
Schoolchildren from around Jamshedpur participated in over 70 sports events, with numerous awards distributed daily.
Free entry for all competitions underscored the fair’s commitment to accessible, wholesome entertainment and education.
Organizers received accolades for steering children away from substance abuse and promoting traditional sports.
Kolhan Commissioner Manoj Kumar hailed the fair as a unique blend of culture and modernity, emphasizing its role in children’s development.
Manoj Kumar suggested adding a stall on understanding good and bad touch, stressing the importance of such education for children.
The Commissioner applauded the government’s involvement and suggested further enhancement with a traffic police stall.
