JAMSHEDPUR – Local police have arrested four individuals in connection with the theft of a truck from Jamco, located within the Govindpur police station’s jurisdiction.
The arrests came after a thorough investigation led by City DSP Sudhir Kumar, following the July 5 theft report.
"Our team’s diligent work led to the swift recovery of the vehicle and arrest of the suspects," DSP Kumar stated during a press briefing.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Dalbagh Singh, Mohan Das, and Tarakeshwar Gupta.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar, the truck’s driver, confessed to orchestrating the theft due to financial pressures stemming from unpaid wages.
"I hadn’t received my salary for three months after slag loading operations stopped," Bhuvneshwar revealed during interrogation.
The driver, along with his associates, disabled the truck’s GPS and hid it in Loabasa before negotiating its sale.
Tarakeshwar Gupta allegedly agreed to purchase the stolen vehicle for Rs 2.60 lakh, with Rs 2.25 lakh paid upfront.
Police are currently pursuing another suspect believed to be involved in the crime.
This case highlights the potential consequences of financial distress and the importance of addressing labor issues promptly.
The successful resolution of the theft demonstrates the effectiveness of Jamshedpur police in tackling local crime.
Authorities are urging companies to ensure timely payment of wages to prevent similar incidents in the future.
The investigation remains ongoing as police work to uncover any additional details or accomplices in the case.
