Ghatshila College Celebrates 63rd Foundation Day with Pomp and Fanfare
63 lamps lighted and 63 coconuts offeredin a grand celebration attended by prominent personalities and students.
GHATSHILA – Ghatshila College marked its 63rd Foundation Day with grandeur and enthusiasm, celebrating the institution’s continued success and promising future.
The event kicked off with the lighting of 63 lampions, followed by the symbolic cracking of 63 coconuts by the attendees, which included distinguished guests, retired instructors, and staff members.
Drum beats and lively dancing music created a festive atmosphere as a large number of students joined the celebration.
Following the reception, a formal ceremony was conducted in room 24, where attendees honored the college’s founders and key figures, including former state legislator Shyam Charan Murmu, Abhay Pado Mukherjee, Swami Purnanand Maharaj, Atul Krishna Bose, and the late Krishna Choubey, by presenting flowers and wreaths.
MLA Ghatshila Ramdas Soren, the principal guest of the event, expressed optimism about Ghatshila College’s continuous improvement, pledging collaborative efforts for its advancement.
Other notable attendees included Sourav Rai, president of Tata Steel’s CSR, Jiren Xavier Topno, head of Tata Steel’s Tribal Services, and Kumar S. Abhinav and Rajeev Kumar, the Circle Officer.
Principal Dr. R. Chaudhary, who presided over the event, thanked everyone for their crucial assistance in the college’s growth.
The ceremony also recognized retired teachers, staff members, members of the Board of Governors, public figures, and press representatives.
Highlighting the remarkable growth of the institution, Professor Mitreshwar reminisced about the college’s humble beginnings in 1961 with only 23 students.
Today, the college boasts an enrollment of over 14,000 students.
The event served as a beacon of unity and commitment to education, reflecting both the glorious past and the ambitious vision of Ghatshila College.
